born in Erie, Pennsylvania, January 18, 1962, middle child of an innovative artist/sculptor/pianist father & a loving, supportive mother, a counselor & mediator, helping transform people's grievances into love and forgiveness.
Darryl's first art lessons began at 4 years old. attended vocational technical high school with four hours of art each day. studied for five years under Vitus J. Kaiser, a brilliant watercolor artist who taught philosophy & the art of living with integrity, joy, gratitude, the passion of painting.
attended the art institute of pittsburgh, five semesters, dean's list, academic achievement scholarships, out of four paintings chosen to represent airbrush at the art institute in a national promotion... all four paintings were Darryl's.
leaving the art institute to pursue freehand airbrush ... in malls on clothing led to six years of airbrush stores in Daytona Beach, Florida.
spiritual transformations and new awareness caused Darryl to change direction toward travel and living simply in nature. traveling with artist & former wife, Cheryl for 10 years, painting at festivals and pow-wows on Native American reservations gave deeper insight into nature, spirituality, and living in harmony with the people of the earth.
spending time in nature and around campfires with musician friends, especially Tommy Kohler, inspired Darryl to play guitar & sing. later adding piano, flute and drum. all that and dance & twirl fire, too.
in 1999, moved to Hawai’i to play music and paint by the sea while whales and dolphins swim by. where the weather's perfect every day.
Darryl's paintings include exquisite realism and sacred geometry.
airbrush & mixed media combine in transformational mandalas, murals and internationally collected fine art paintings, giclees & prints.
Darryl’s music is mostly improvisational. his focal point being to express the feelings of the moment. each piece is spontaneous and unique. piano, guitar, singer/songwriter, flute, drum.
visions include blending visual, audio and movement to create transformational experiences.
“live in the moment ... appreciate family & friends ... follow your dreams"
